An historically important example of the AC Cobra Mk 1V Lightweight, well known and respected in AC circles. Chassis number AKL 1328 ( "L" for Lightweight) was 1 of approximately 26 Lightweights built at Brooklands. Originally supplied in 1990 by Rod Leach,s “Nostalgia” AC main UK agents at that time to Duncan Mackinnon of Drambuie Liquor fame. The original invoice on file for £200000, believed the equivalent today of £646000! The next custodian became Dave Jones, founder of the world renowned “Grand Theft Auto” before entering the ownership of Ben Yates for the next 24 years, famous in AC circles and well known to the factory. The Lightweight specification boasted the Ford 302 SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) engine with GT 40 alloy cylinder heads, roller bearing cams, a 750 CFM Holley Carb, Borg Warner T5 gearbox and Salisbury L.S.D. along with 15" Halibrand lightweight wheels and 4 point racing harness. Interestingly, according to factory records this Lightweight is 8 chassis numbers away from the Lightweight supplied to Rod Stewart at the time. This car has lived locally for the past 4 years, owned by a well known collector of AC cars, who has added approximately 3000 miles during his ownership. This matching numbers car is offered with the original hood, tonneau and side screens still retaining the original chalked on chassis numbers as was habit of the factory at that time. The car still retains its original factory Diamond White paintwork with Red and Gold striping, reflecting the Drambuie Liquor companies corporate colours. AKL 1328 is documented in the original works register, Shelby world register and with the AC Owners Club. An historically important and rare Lightweight presented to impeccable standards with all the correct provenance and documentation file any serious buyer would require. (Registration excluded) May P/X., White, £199,950, this is an imported vehicle
